Position Summary
Oversees the day-to-day supervision and coordination of credentialing, privileging, and administrative support activities within the Medical Staff Services department. This position ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as Orlando Health Bylaws, Policies and Procedures, Rules and Regulations.
Essential Functions
- Supervises and coordinates activities related to initial credentialing, recredentialing, and privileging physicians and allied health professionals.
- Supervises and coordinates activities for provider onboarding, orientation, and system access.
- Supervises and coordinates the maintenance of emergency room call schedules.
- Supports the coordination of Medical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, and other medical staff meetings including agenda preparation, minutes, and follow-up.
- Provides leadership, training, and performance feedback to team members as applicable.
- Manages assignment of tasks, productivity, and development plans of team members as applicable.
- Collaborates with medical staff leaders, hospital administration, and ancillary departments on matters related to medical staff operations and governance.
- Facilitates and maintains medical staff Bylaws, policies, standard operating procedures, and privilege forms, in coordination with medical staff leadership, administrative leadership, and legal counsel, as applicable.
- Interacts daily with Associate Directors and Directors to develop and implement special projects.
- Exhibits understanding of logistics required to support Directors and Associate Directors.
- Oversees the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing database.
- Runs daily reports for tracking and trending.
- Recommends and implements process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency and service delivery.
- Assists physicians and allied health professionals with all matters related to medical staff membership, clinical privileges, and system access.
- Facilitates departmental and organizational initiatives to drive provider engagement.
- Participates in audits and surveys conducted by external regulatory bodies.
- Develops professional relationships with medical staff, hospital administration, and other departments to support medical staff operations.
- Exhibits extensive attention to detail and expects the same from all team members.
- Ensures adherence to medical staff governing documents and other related policies and procedures.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Education/Training
Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) additional years of directly related experience (for a total of four (4) years of directly related experience) may substitute for the Associate’s degree.
Licensure/Certification
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) is preferred. If not currently certified, one of these credentials must be obtained within two years of hire.
Experience
- Two (2) years of experience in medical staff services, including working with physicians and/or coordination of Medical Staff committee meetings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and credentialing software (e.g., MD-Staff).
