Position Summary

Operate an optical finishing lab in the FMC retail Optical Center

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Assists in inventory and processing functions

o Manages deliveries

o Processes invoices for payment

o Periodically checks status of orders to ensure timely delivery of products to our customers

  • Performs lab responsibilities

o Checks lens powers

o Performs lens layouts with supervision

o Completes blocking, edging and safety beveling

o Carries out lens grooving, insertion and bench alignment

o Performs lens tinting and UV Coating

o Verifies UV transmission

o Tempers lenses

o Inspects eyewear under Optician’s supervision

o Initials and dates work tickets for quality control

  • Maintains the Optical Lab equipment

o Cleans and upkeeps lab equipment

o Performs weekly tests on eyewash station

  • Answers telephone and assists callers

o Takes messages

o Handles customer requests or needs

o Retrieves voicemail daily

  • Assists co-workers in Optical showroom at busy times

o Assists customers with frame selection

o Dispensing of eyeglasses with supervision

o Makes lens recommendations to patients

o Performs adjustments and frame repairs

o Makes appointments for patients using an existing frame

  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains an organized and clean work area
  • Participates in maintenance of clinical supplies
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification

  • None

Experience

  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Strong team player
